Maruti Suzuki has begun exporting its Victoris SUV from India, strengthening its global presence as demand rises across Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
Maruti Suzuki India has officially commenced exports of its premium SUV Victoris, marking another milestone in the company’s expanding global strategy. More than 450 units have already been shipped from Gujarat’s Mundra and Pipavav ports to international markets, including Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
The export launch comes as Maruti Suzuki continues to leverage India as a manufacturing hub for global markets. The Victoris, which will be sold overseas under the name ‘Across’, reflects the company’s focus on combining scale, quality and cost efficiency to compete internationally.
Introduced in the Indian market in September 2025, the premium SUV has quickly gained momentum, reinforcing confidence in its prospects beyond domestic borders.
Strong domestic response supports export ambitions
Victoris is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Haryana facility and has seen robust demand since its launch. As of January 1, 2026, the company has recorded around 70,000 bookings in India, with approximately 35,000 units already dispatched, according to official sources.
This strong domestic traction has provided a solid foundation for the export rollout. By aligning production volumes with both local and international demand, Maruti Suzuki aims to optimise capacity while strengthening its position in key overseas markets.
Make in India strategy drives overseas growth
Commenting on the development, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, said the export of Victoris aligns closely with the company’s “Make in India, Make for the World” vision.
He noted that Maruti Suzuki currently exports around 18 models manufactured in India and continues to deepen its footprint across global markets. The addition of Victoris is expected to further support this trajectory as the company targets sustained growth in exports.
Maruti Suzuki leads India’s vehicle exports
Maruti Suzuki’s export performance has outpaced the broader industry in recent years. In 2025 alone, the company exported more than 3.9 lakh vehicles, retaining its position as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth consecutive year.
Takeuchi highlighted that between 2020 and 2025, while overall passenger vehicle exports from India grew by 1.43 times, Maruti Suzuki’s exports expanded by 4.67 times. This divergence underscores the company’s growing competitiveness in international markets.
The year 2025 also marked Maruti Suzuki’s re-entry into Europe with the start of exports of its first battery electric vehicle, the e VITARA, manufactured at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat.
Victoris expected to boost global footprint
With its blend of premium positioning, manufacturing scale and export-ready design, Victoris is expected to play a meaningful role in Maruti Suzuki’s next phase of international expansion. The company believes the model will resonate well with customers in overseas markets, particularly in regions where demand for SUVs continues to rise.
As Maruti Suzuki deepens its export-led growth strategy, the global rollout of Victoris signals how Indian-made vehicles are increasingly shaping the company’s worldwide ambitions.
